Ninth EARNet Symposium 2017 in Leuven, Belgium
The 9th EARNet Symposium took place at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium on September 29th and 30th 2017.
50 papers were presented and discussed in 20 parallel sessions. The Symposium's key note speech entitled "Is audit market competition imperfect? Evidence and policy implications" was performed by Joseph Gerakos (Dartmouth College). The Symposium's Panel session focused on "How informative are extended audit reports, really?".
The Best Paper Award was won by the following paper:
- "Rewards and Pressure to Improve Audit Quality: Facilitative for Auditors With Low Drive but Undermining for Auditors With High Driveď by Herman van Brenk (Nyenrode Business Universiteit); Barbara Majoor (Nyenrode Business Universiteit)
The 7th Ph.D. Workshop preceded the Symposium on the 28th of September. Seventeen Ph.D. proposals and papers were presented and discussed within the workshop.
